Pamphlet Feedback with Aoife Lyall
"Poems shape shapeless things, and give us a means to communicate feelings and experiences in an exacting way. With that in mind, the feedback you receive will include my first impressions and deeper reflections on your work, alongside questions for you to address and suggestions you may want to try. Most importantly, this process is one of willingness and openness: it is not about criticising or cutting down, but about cutting back and allowing for growth"

I was commissioned by Aoife as one of five North of Scotland poets to write a poem for the Scottish Poetry Library when she was guest curator for the library’s ‘Champions’ project in 2020. Working with Aoife was a joy, she is such a skilled and talented editor who knows when to suggest tiny tweaks or bigger changes and when to leave the poet to work through things on their own. She was always there for me and wanted me to write the very best poem I could with her wonderful help. I knew my work was in safe and trusted hands as Aoife is such an amazing poet as well as an accomplished editor.
